On 16 November 2020, then Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, officially opened the second call for the 5G pilot programme run by Red.es, as a first step in promoting the deployment of new mobile technology and the digitisation of Spain over the coming years.
Jose Antonio Aranda Legazpe, Director of Product Innovation and Strategy at Cellnex Telecom, took part in the event as coordinator of the temporary joint venture composed of the entities and companies that are to implement the 5G pilot in Catalonia.
